Der Neuntöter e. V. trägt dazu bei, dass Landschaften wieder eine hohe Lebensqualität für alle Lebewesen entfalten. Auf dem Energieberg Georgswerder pflegt der Verein u. a. eine rund 1,6 Hektar große Fläche und fördert so die Artenvielfalt dieses Biotops.

In dem Projekt „Biotoppflege – und Entwicklung Deponie Georgswerder“ werden gewonnene Erkenntnisse aus der Ökologie und Landschaftspflege eingesetzt, womit auf der rund 1,6 ha großen Projektfläche die Artenvielfalt gefördert werden kann. Gerade in der Vegetationssaison vom Frühjahr bis zum Herbst fallen hier viele Arbeiten an, welche der kleine Verein schwer allein stemmen kann. So sind sie für externe Hilfe immer besonders dankbar.

Am Aktionstag wird es primär um die Zurückdrängung von jungem Baumwuchs und der Luzerne gehen. Vor allem die Luzerne versorgt durch ihre stickstoffbindenden Eigenschaften auch die übrige Vegetation mit Nährstoffen und fördert so beschleunigtes Wachstum, welches den Lebensraum für wärmeliebende Tiere wie z. B. Zauneidechsen negativ beeinflusst. Daher müssen die Luzernen mit Wurzeln ausgegraben und die entstandenen Löcher wieder mit Sand befüllt werden. Als körperlich weniger anspruchsvolle Tätigkeit können durch einzelne Personen auch aufkommende Gräser und Schachtelhalm etc. aus Sandflächen entfernt werden.

Je nach Wachstum und Witterung, hat das Team des Neuntöter e. V. bereits im Vorfeld ein Teilstück des Geländes gemäht, sodass zusätzlich eine Gruppe das Gras zusammenharken und abkarren kann.
Die Arbeiten unterscheiden sich in Art und Schwere der körperlichen Belastung, so ist für jeden etwas dabei. Ein tolles Projekt für alle, die Lust haben einen Tag lang richtig mit anzupacken und nebenbei noch etwas über Artenvielfalt, Biotope und die Arbeit vom Neuntöter e. V. zu lernen.

Ps. Da das Biotop, bzw. der Einsatzort, etwas außerhalb liegt, wird die Anreise mit dem PKW / Fahrrad empfohlen.

What is it all about?

Neuntöter e. V. helps to ensure that landscapes once again offer a high quality of life for all living creatures. Among other things, the association maintains an area of around 1.6 hectares on the Georgswerder energy mountain and thus promotes the biodiversity of this biotope.

In the „Georgswerder landfill biotope maintenance and development“ project, knowledge gained from ecology and landscape conservation is used to promote biodiversity on the approximately 1.6-hectare project area. Especially during the vegetation season from spring to fall, there is a lot of work to be done here, which the small association can hardly manage on its own. They are therefore always particularly grateful for external help.
On the day of action, the main focus will be on cutting back young tree growth and alfalfa. Due to its nitrogen-binding properties, alfalfa in particular also supplies the remaining vegetation with nutrients and thus promotes accelerated growth, which has a negative impact on the habitat for heat-loving animals such as sand lizards. For this reason, the alfalfa with roots must be dug up and the resulting holes refilled with sand.
As a less physically demanding activity, individuals can also remove emerging grasses and horsetail etc. from sandy areas.
Depending on growth and weather conditions, the Neuntöter e. V. team has already mowed a section of the site in advance so that an additional group can rake and cart away the grass.
The work varies in terms of type and severity of physical strain, so there is something for everyone. A great project for anyone who would like to lend a hand for a day and learn something about biodiversity, biotopes and the work of Neuntöter e. V. at the same time.
